Things You Should Know about the Plastic Injection Moulding

2018-08-20 19:26:36

Plastic injection moulding is the latest and modern technique in which a set of machines while working in a synchronized manner can produce many kinds of plastic products of different range from a small size to a very large size and from a simple design to that of a complicated one. This is one of the commonest methods prevailed in the plastic industry to produce frequently used plastic related products.

In plastic injection moulding technique, a raw plastic material of required features from the hopper is allowed to enter into a well-designed mould/dye through an injection having the screw and at very high pressure and temperature. This mould/dye must be highly accurate in shape and design considering the measurements of specific product required. A high temperature is needed to convert raw plastic into the molten form that could be injectable through the nozzle with the help of application of high pressure.

After the cooling, the desired product got separated from mould and hence removed. The raw material is selected depending upon the product for its characteristics of color, hardness, flexibility, and shape. Generally, thermoplastics are used for making more flexible and recyclable material sensitive to temperature whereas thermoset plastics are used for making hard plastics that can withstand high temperature. Products are easy to use and have a higher degree of safety. Products are generally lightweight and have high aesthetic value in case of domestic and housing products.

Plastic moulding injection is a step by step procedure in which first of all requirement of a customer is considered which leads to successful designing of the specified product. Next, it is time for tooling that is to prepare a mould/dye of high precision. Generally, a dye/mould is made up of a metallic material of very good strength that can withhold large pressure and temperature as well.

This mould/dye maintains and preserves the shape and design of the products. Finally, a product is an outcome of well designing of customer's requirement, an accurate mould/dye and then the process of moulding at the end. For a product of high standard and quality, one should keep in mind the best raw material, highly specific and correct dimensions of product at right conditions of moulding process considering temperature and pressure.

Plastic injection moulding is used to make a very large number of products such as chairs, caps and bottles, containers, tops, bezels, shelves, couplings, trays, panels, buckets, toys, various other automobile and engineering products. Such products have replaced metal and are very light without any of risk of rusting/corrosion as compared to metals.

In a single operation, a product with different features such as holes, hinges, springs which may be hollow or solid, simple or complex and smooth or irregular or some other type of unique pattern and design can be easily produced by using the state of art technology using robots in plastic injection moulding. Such products of plastic injection moulding are mostly joint free. This technique not only increases the efficiency and strength of the product but also lowers the cost very much. Moreover, this process is highly eco-friendly as it reduces the formation of wastage of plastics and also helps in recycling the plastics.
