The Process of Quality Control and Its Working Fields

2018-07-30 18:00:30
Quality control is an operation that is done with a series of tasks, carried out to identify the effectiveness of a manufactured product or a performed service. There is a defined set of guidelines to be followed to make sure the product or service suits the desired quality level and meet the customer’s or client’s requirement.

The entire process of quality control is conducted by a team of quality inspectors that thoroughly test and examine the usability, function, dependability, and safety of a specific product or service.

The responsibility of the quality control team

Any business that requires quality control generally appoints an internal or external team of inspectors to completely test a number of products and observe a provided service. The inspection is usually done randomly at one or more products, individually and randomly selected by the team. In case, a service or product doesn’t meet the required standards specified by the client, the inspecting team often has the capability of temporarily stopping the production until a completely thorough investigation is done and issues are taken care of.

In case, a major fault is detected, possibly, the production can be put on a permanent hold till the time all the majorly required changes have been implemented.

The responsibility of eliminating quality issues

Once the faults are detected it is not the responsibility of the quality control team to rectify the faults, however, they surely provide solutions. The work is generally forwarded to another tram which examines the certain products or service to determine the extremity of the fault or defect and this other team will figure out what action should be taken to fix the issues.

Once all the detected issues are fixed to a level of satisfactory standard, the production or service can be continued as usual.

Common working fields of quality control

There is a long list of businesses that hire either in-house or appoint external professionals (preferably external) in order to carry out quality control. For example, in the packaged food industry, the manufacturers depend on testers to inspect and taste the final item. Clothing manufacturers hire employees to keep an eye on the clothing articles to make sure it is properly sewn and made with perfection. Similarity, in the pharmaceutical industry, the quality control team inspects the final products to check contamination, accuracy and general detects.

Businesses that are away from manufacturing or production and are completely service-oriented would appoint employees to conduct inspection ensuring the services are performed to a high standard and to reach the customer’s or client’s satisfaction. The process of service-oriented inspections also includes evaluation of the staff members. A business consists of un-skilled, misinformed, and poorly trained workers that have difficulties in understanding and following the instructions would have a negative impact on the all-over service that the company provides to the customers.

Majorly all the industrial sectors require quality control teams to avoid getting into controversies due to any flaw or defect that reaches to the customer and detected by him. Hence, it is better to detect the issues and rectify them during the production only.
